Soundtracks and Playlists: Music that awakens the Muse

Today, I heard a song that inspired my muse. In fact, an entire scene played out in my mind to the tune of "A Familiar Taste of Poison" by Halestorm  (see "Mythic Soundtrack" on this VERY blog page). The lyrics and music are so powerful that I listened over and over again, just to make sure I didn't miss any detail of the scene in my mind.

This inspired me to create a soundtrack for my series. A playlist of songs that inspire different scenes in my stories for that pick-me-up when my muse grows silent.

Do you have a particular playlist that sparks your creativity? What awakens your muse?

It depends on the story, but they're usually pretty eclectic. One story was inspired by a Live song; one was fueled by Nine inch Nails and Sisters of Mercy and one by Heart and ViValdi. :) Good luck with Mythic, Jae!

Nine Inch Nails is on my playlist, too! Thanks for sharing, and for the well wishes, Julianne!

Hi Jae,
:)) Ballads of Love/romance or strong themes from a movie help my muse.
SOngs of struggle, battles between life and death, or where Love conquers. Corny I know LOL.
Eg:"Everything I do I do it for You" by Brian Adams, inspired my painting of Robin Hood shooting the fiery Arrow.
I love Susan Boyal's Music not only because of the rags to riches real life story behind her sucess. Hey look she made it ... Fairytales do come true, but her voice really is amazing.
I'm pretty old fashioned as I know very little here about the new and upcoming musicians. (shows my age. )
